2607 NE 10th Avenue in 5 Points Wilton Manors...Tentative Opening March 1st!!
As you can see from my CV (the left bottom tab above), I did all my training in an around Boston whom many (myself included) believe is the "Mecca of Medicine". I've been formally treating HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases since 2001 (which was when my academic training was successfully completed). I was trained by some of the countries leading Infectious Disease Specialists. My professors wrote and co-wrote the text books, articles and publications that our infection specialty community still refer to. Boston's teaching hospitals are some of the countries very finest and I'm proud to say I trained there.
Unlike many doctors...I always knew "what I wanted to be when I grew up" very early in my career. As a first year medical student I fell in love with ID (Infectious Disease). I spent that summer at the Harvard Fenway Community Health Center (Boston's largest gay men's clinic). I knew HIV/AIDS was going to be my focus by the time I began my second medical school year. So....even though I've only been out of my formal fellowship training about a decade...I feel like I've been doing this "specialty thing" a lot lot longer (4 years of medical school plus 1 year Internship plus 2 years Residency plus 3 years of Fellowship!).
My practice philosophy is based on three basic principles. The first and most important is mutual respect. I'm a punctual person by nature and won't keep you waiting forever to be seen. Your time is as valuable as mine is and I won't waste it. I'll never talk AT you, or AROUND you, or DOWN TO you. I'll only talk TO you (or "Talk to me!" as Madonna says!). This is a mutual partnership...not a dictatorship. I've never really felt comfortable or looked good in a military uniform (those colors!).
I also know people get sick unexpectedly. So....I schedule same day appointments and will always see you when asked to. If were super swamped...the latest you'll be seen is the morning after. That's my promise to you. I'm also on call for the practice 24/7 so you can call with emergencies and concerns that can't wait (and I will return your call promptly).
My second principle is complete and total honesty (starting to sound like a 12-Step program right?!). Don't be timid or "ashamed" (I've always hated that word!) to tell me everything going on. Believe me....I've heard it all! On the flip side of that coin are the things you may consider to be minor or insignificant....but in actuality may impact your health greatly. So I want to know it all and I'll make myself available to listen. I see people in the office for an average of about 20minutes. Sometimes its a lot longer. I'll never rush you out.....we'll take care of all issues you think are important.
Last, but certainly not least is that I do truly care about your health. You can ask any of my current patients. I'm not in medicine to get rich quick. I'm not some companies Henry Ford Detroit-like medical conveyer belt seeing 50 people a day. This is a private practice...and I call ALL the shots...and I make ALL the plays. I want you to get better. I want you to have a long, productive and fulfilling life. I want you to be able to make a difference in other people's lives. I want you to be happy and enjoy life!
You'll soon find out that I'm a very laid back kind of guy. I detest needless formality, white coats, white walls and dead silence. My office is filled with vibrant color, sound, lights and most importantly laughter. Its a much healthier place to be than most "level II Hazmat" doctors offices. Its a lot more like Starbucks or Abercrombie and Fitch....and I prefer it that way. I simply can't work in a suffocating environment. I have the place wired for Bose sound and a flat screen TV plays movies and broadcasts my iTunes. And its a "Mac" environment around here baby.....its the only way to go!
So....if I haven't scared you off by now. If you don't think I should be Baker Acted. If this all sounds copacetic....I'd love for you to come by and see if my approach is your style or not. The one thing I can guarantee is I always get things done and my patients do very well in general. I'll provide you with the very best disease targeted, individualized, specialized and non-homogenized healthcare in South Florida!!
